In an ancient Buddhist legend, there is a deeply moving tale about the Buddha Śākyamuni. It is said that while meditating under the Bodhi tree, the Buddha vowed not to rise until he attained enlightenment. On the sixth week of his meditation, a fierce storm struck—freezing winds and torrential rains. Moved by the Buddha’s devotion, the Serpent King Mucalinda emerged from behind him, spreading his hood to shield the Buddha from the storm. This story symbolizes how the Buddha’s unwavering determination awakened compassion even in the natural world.
Natural Wood Characteristics
- 100% authentic boxwood – Each piece is hand-carved from solid wood without artificial aging treatments (e.g., stains or lacquers).
- Unique wood grain variations – Natural features like dark veins, mineral streaks, or small knots may appear, adding to the organic charm of each carving (these do not affect quality).
Notes Before Purchase
- Patina develops gradually through oxidation and hand oils, deepening the wood’s hue over years.
- Minor imperfections (e.g., dark spots, heartwood lines, or knots) are inherent to natural wood and reflect its authenticity.
